You can contribute to PC-donatie.nl by donating your written-down hardware to Viafrica. We make sure that your hardware is assessed and collected professionally. Your data are secured and removed. Hardware that can no longer be used, will be offered to renowned recycling companies in a responsible way. The other hardware is sold. The revenue allows us to purchase hardware that will be used in the projects in Africa.
From the viewpoint of efficiency a donation needs to represent a minimal revenue to deliver a positive contribution to a project. Action of participant
- You contact us. With pleasure we explain the possibilities of your contribution through PC-Donation.
- After your decision to participate, you will receive an inventory list upon which you can indicate the details of your hardware donation. This is used to determine the value and volume.
- The intended donation will be confirmed through a contract in which Viafrica gives guarantees regarding data destruction, certification, reporting and transport.
Actions by Viafrica and SiSo
- SiSo contacts you for the collection of the used hardware.
- SiSo takes the inventory of and registers the donated hardware on site.
- After registration SiSo packs the hardware and transports it in the brought roll containers to a central storage location.
- SiSo removes all data [video] or places all data carriers (hard disks) in temporary quarantine. This is in case your company should need a back-up or if a roll-back is necessary.
- SiSo determines the value of the hardware, sells the still valuable hardware and records its revenue.
- Viafrica finances new projects with the revenues of your used hardware. In these projects we take care of training the users, lesson materials, maintenance and support on-site.
- You receive a project report with images for each contribution to a project. This report can be used to strengthen your CSR policy.

Yes. You can also join our pc donation project when your hardware has been leased. Submit your data on the contact form and we call you to discuss the possibilities.
In any successful sustainable ICT project other costs exist besides the purchase of hardware. Think of costs for logistics, training of users, guidance of the schools during their preparation, the installation, the development of an appropriate software package and the gathering of relevant e-learning content. The operational execution of the projects is done by our local sister organisations in Kenya, Tanzania and Sierra Leone. To create leverage and local support the schools actively contribute to the projects by delivering the basics. Think of a suitable room, furniture, electricity and teachers.
Yes, all hardware will be collected. Hardware that has no longer any value or has broken down, will be recycled in the Netherlands by a certified company.
The needed start investment for a computer laboratory lies beyond the financial reach of most schools in Africa. Viafrica enables this investment, in partnership with you, for them. Viafrica has the condition that each school in Africa willing to participate does an investment in the form of a room, proper electricity, furniture and available ICT teachers. Besides, each school contributes an amount per computer for maintenance, support, having up-to-date software and e-learning materials and follow-up training for the teachers. This is sharply monitored by Viafrica at registration of the school and during the project. If a school can not meet these requirement, it can not yet participate.
No, all your hardware will be sold in The Netherlands. Of which you receive a report. The revenues are used for the financing of Viafrica projects. This means, among others, the purchasing of the needed hardware for the projects, transport, training, installation and lesson materials. Maintenance and operational costs are met by the project schools.
The value of your donation for Viafrica is huge. Viafrica does not want to depend on government funding. Through PC-Donation we are able to finance our projects in an indepent manner. With your donation you enable us to keep this independenc.
The monetary value of your used hardware obviously depends strongly on its age and state. It is therefore difficult to make general statements about this.
